Official Commencement to another chapter of life
20th July 2005 marks the official commencement of another phase of my life.
I wasnt particularly looking forward to the ceremony. To me, it was just another event to attend to but i guess for the parents, it is something significant to see their child going on stage to get the hand shake from the dean and collect the empty folder. It somehow put their hearts at ease that their child made it, completed the education that they have worked hard to put them thru.
A friend was asking if i would cry or get emotional at the commencement. My reply was 'huh, it's just a ceremony, we have already started working and moved on in our lives.' But when one of the speakers was making his speech yesterday, all the memories of student life in SMU came flooding back to me. All the late nites of rushing for projects, the classes, the studying of test and exams, the jittery feeling before presentations, the dinners in school, late suppers, the camps and of course the laughter and fun... i'm thankful for each one of them cos it made my years in smu memorable. hehe...

That One Day!
finally finished reading the book... :) And it ended on a nice note.
.....
One day the Lord Jesus will return to gather his people from every nation, tribe and people on earth. Until then, we have a great task that remains unfinished. But we are not left to do it on our own. Christ has given us His Spirit and His promise still remains: 'surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age' (Matthew 28:20)

Awed by Ur Faithfulness!
i have been reading a book: life's big questions by Vaughan Roberts. There was one portion which i really enjoyed and want to share.
I'm so awed by God's faithfulness towards His people.
In the OT, the children of Israel went against God and accepted idols in their lives and even worshipped them. God, being God of course is jealous and angry. In the book of Hosea, God asked Hosea to marry a whore named Gomer. This marriage to Gomer represents God's marriage to the children of israel. The israelites were having "affairs" with idols and were full of sin. In God's eyes, Israel is like a whore.
Then after marrying Hosea, Gomer left to be with another man but God asked Hosea to show his love to his wife again, asking her to return to be with him. And he even paid her lover to let her go. Hosea did all that God commanded him to. Hosea's commitment to the marriage shows God's commitment to His people. It shows His amazing grace in dealings with them. Though Israel must be punished for their sin, that judgment is not a signal to the end of the marriage God has with Israel. The judgment will bring discipline not divorce. God still remains faithful to the marriage and promise.
I really am amazed by God's faithfulness. It's beyond my comprehension but i'm glad He is so. I take comfort that He will not forsake me. So, what's my response now? I pray that I will be respond to His faithfulness by being faithful to my awesome God. Lord, help me lead a life that is pleasing in Ur eyes.
Awaiting for that DAY!
I was reminded of this song today. And it gives me such joy to look forward to that Day when Jesus returns again because all things are made new and everything is back to how it should have been in the beginning.
When He returns
We await a better place
Where God is on the throne
Where knowledge of the Lord will fill the earth
The heavens and the earth renewed
A city built by God
Descending from the sky , prepared for us
When He returns, the people of the kingdom will rejoice
When He returns, creation will bow down
When He returns, He'll gather His people to Him
And take us to the city of our God
And we'll enter His courts with praise
We await a better place
Where there is no more fear
And God has wiped the tears from our eyes
The One who sits upon the throne
Is making all things new
The people of God will worship Him
